SGT. Riley C Brandt

After Graduating From Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School (Ohio) in 2016, Riley joined the Army and attended boot camp in Ft. Benning, GA in July, 2016.  In December 2016 Riley was sent to Ft. Drum New York base and was assigned to the Danger Company 2-87 Infantry with the Catamounts. He quickly moved up in rank and became the squad leader for his unit, then deployed to war in Afghanistan October 2018 until 2019. 

Riley went on to achieve the rank of Sergeant and even re-enlisted. During his service, Riley earned the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal Global Terrorism Medal, Army Service Ribbon, ARCOM Award Medal , Nato Medal, Air Assault Badge and his personal most proud accomplishment which was the Marksmanship Badge. 

Riley enjoyed fast cars, fitness, playing the drums, fishing, and participated in the Murph Challenge on Memorial Day weekends. He was said to be a role model, motivational and determined, goals of the Army being his long-term life goal. 

Riley returned from the war in Afghanistan diagnosed with two Traumatic Brain Injuries from incidents while at war in Afghanistan that unfortunately led to his suicide on November 28, 2020.  

SGT. Riley Brandt was just 22 years old.
