Sean Huffman
Sean served with the US ARMY 10th Cav 193rd during Desert Storm and supported the armor division. Upon coming under fire in 1991 he was wounded by an RPG and recovered from his wounds before returning to Richmond VA. After struggling to transition, Sean ended up living in the Shenandoah for 5 years and later found a ministry and received some much needed assistance. Through the years, Sean has given help and assistance to anyone and everyone that needed it. One of our favorite things to witness was Sean getting up in the early hours of the morning and walking the streets of Long Beach to make sure the unhoused women were safe and ok.
We met Sean at our coffee shop in April of 2019 when he needed the most help. He was on a limited income, with rent and bills being raised he was afraid he would soon face homelessness again while battling stage 4 colon and rectal cancer. He soon became part of our family and we watched as the community rallied around him to give unconditional love and support. He moved in with us in May 2019 when the VA told him there were no more treatment options and he would be released to hospice care. Your donations, support and love made it possible for his care.
Sean lost his battle with cancer on September 24, 2020 surrounded with love by the community and other veterans. His legacy will live on and we will forever honor this special man.
